William Kenneth Sturley Sr. passed away peacefully on March 28, 2011 surrounded by his family and holding the loving hand of Frances, his wife of 68 years. William was preceded in death by his parents Lillian and Walter H. Sturley, brother Walter Sturley, sister Ruth Grahame and especially loved grandson, Jeffrey Jason Krussell. Surviving are his children, William Jr. Betty, Michael Judith, Susan Krussell Ron, David Jane and Scott Elaine, 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. William was a graduate of the Detroit High School of Commerce where he earned numerous varsity letters, captained the basketball and baseball teams and was elected president of his senior class in 1939. William proudly served his country for 6½ years as staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. William was a printing pressman and worked for the Detroit News for 45 years retiring in 1990 as press-room foreman. A memorial service will be held at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Road, Royal Oak at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2011. William will be awarded a full military funeral and be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C.
