William R. Sarver. We mourn with great sadness the passing of Bill Sarver, 70, on August 12, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with renal failure. A teacher and lawyer by profession, Bill was a passionate, lifelong advocate of public education and public school employees. He was the Executive Director of the Warren Education Association MEA/NEA for more than twenty years. Bill attended, and later taught in the Highland Park Public Schools. His great height and skills on the basketball court earned him a scholarship to the University of Detroit, where he graduated with a BA in history, followed by a Juris Doctorate from the Detroit College of Law. He is survived by his wife, Judy Locher, and daughter Justine Sarver. A memorial event will be held at the Detroit Golf Club on Sunday, September 22, at 1:30 p.m., 17911 Hamilton Road, Detroit, MI, www.detroitgolfclub.org - note that club rules state no denim is allowed.
