William Murphy

William Murphy, age 77, a resident of Royal Oak, died January 6, 2013 at his home. He was born May 30, 1935 in Ferndale to the late Frank J. and Doris R. Lyman Murphy. Mr. Murphy was a retired Royal Oak Police Sergeant. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Murphy, the couple married October 26, 1957 at St. Joe's Catholic Church in Wyandotte; his children, Kathleen Murphy, Rose Ann Glenn Greenway, Maureen Steve Strachan, William J. Karen Murphy and Mary David Arce; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The visitation will be Tuesday 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mr. Murphy will lie in state Thursday 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 10 a.m. at the National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak. The burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen are appreciated.
