William Melan

MELAN, William Joseph. Age 78. February 23, 2005. Beloved husband of the Late Helen H. Melan died October 11, 1974. Loving father of Victoria Hubert Skwierc, Bill Cindy Melan, and Christopher Kathy Melan. Dear grandfather of Fred Mongeau, Michael Mongeau, Kristy Bruchert, and Michael Melan. Proud great grandfather of Hannah Bruchert. Also survived by many brothers and sisters. Mr. Melan has been a resident of Shelby Township for over 50 years and a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church of Utica. He retired from J.L. Hudson after 42 years of service. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. While serving in the Navy, he received the Pacific Theater and American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal. He married Helen on June 27, 1953 at St. Stanis Laus Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan. Visitation is Sunday from 2:00pm to 8:00pm at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road, 3 blocks east of VanDyke Utica. The funeral mass will be Monday, February 28th at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 44633 Utica Road south of M-59 between Mound Road and VanDyke Utica. He will be in state at church at 11:30 a.m. until the funeral mass at noon. Burial will take place with Military honors at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery, Utica.
