William D. Elliott, age 90, a 50-year resident of Huntington Woods, died July 1, 2009 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born September 14, 1918 in Detroit. Mr. Elliott was the owner of Elliott Electric. He was a member of the Six Nations Indian Reserve of Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada and a member of the Mohawk tribe. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a military policeman. He was in Pearl Harbor at the time of the Japanese bombarding, working as an electrician aboard the Navy ships. Mr. Elliott formerly enjoyed speed skating, skating with his grandchildren and was a member of the Old Timers Skating Club in St. Clair Shores. He is survived by his wife, Naomi R. Elliott; children, Donald Kathy Epperson of West Bloomfield, Donna Wayne Remillard of Fenton and Rhonda Paul Bidinger of Commerce Township; siblings, Harold Elliott of Royal Oak, Marion Kirsch of Lapeer and Gertrude Morato of Roseville; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Elliott, Hilda Parker and Betty Woodworth. Visitation will be Thursday 4-9 p.m. and service Friday 11 a.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak, with the Rev. Dr. Charles J. Whitfield officiating. Burial will take place at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
