Knapp, William ôBillö peacefully passed from this life on February 25, 2008 at St. JohnÆs Hospital, surrounded by family. Bill grew up and lived all of his life in the Detroit area. He graduated from Denby HS in Detroit, and with a degree in real estate finance from MSU, he began a lifelong career in public service. He worked as Assessor for the City of Detroit and the City of Grosse Pte Woods. Bill fulfilled his dream of moving out to the country in the late 1980s. His 150-year-old farm house and surrounding gardens became his passion. Bill was known for his dedication to his family, his love of music, and his quick wit. Defined by his generosity, he was a willing worker in his church. A rabid Spartan and Tiger fan, he enriched the lives of all who knew him through his faith, kindness, generosity and strength, and will live in our hearts always. Predeceased by his parents, George and Daphna; he is survived by his son, William ôBradö Knapp; and his two daughters, Cheryl Gamache of St. Louis, MO and Denise Lindeman Rochester Hills; and two grandsons, Grant and Matthew Lindeman. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Sat, April 12 at 1:00 PM at the Grosse Pointe Congregational Church, 240 Chalfonte, GPF. Memorial contributions to: Hennepin County Med. Ctr.
