Wiley Harrison, age 91, a former resident of Detroit and longtime resident of Oak Park, Michigan passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Borgess Gardens Nursing Home in Kalamazoo. He was born August 6, 1922 in Salem, Alabama. Wiley served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the AFL-CIO for 50 years. He was an avid volunteer at the union hall preparing the hall for the precinct voting season. He also loved cooking southern dishes. Beloved husband of Ida who passed away in 1971. Wiley raised his 6 daughters and was a very hard construction worker. Loving father of the late Annie Berry who passed away in 2006, Owedia Randy Gray, Elvira Harrison, Alona Milner, Beverly Harrison and Debbie Jerome Persell. Wiley is also survived by a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and family and friends. Visitation Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. and Monday, May 19, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2014, 11 a.m. at the Wm. Sullivan Funeral Home, 705 West Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks East of Woodward, Royal Oak, Michigan 48067, with Reverend Stan Sims officiating. Interment will take place Thursday, May 22, 2014, 11 AM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan. Memorials in Mr. Harrison's memory are appreciated to the American Lung Association or American Heart Association.
