Wayne Leeland McDougall

Wayne Leeland McDougall “Mac”, age 88, passed away on December 25, 2023, at the Weston County Manor. He was born to Leeland and Evelyn (Lance) McDougall in Dover, Minnesota. He attended grade school in Dover, Minnesota and graduated high school from St. Charles High School in 1953. Once Wayne graduated school, he moved to Newcastle at the age of 18 to live with his aunt and uncle. While living in Newcastle, he got a job at Johnston Fuel Liners and Dixon Brothers Trucking as a diesel mechanic. During his career, he received the Wyoming Trucking Association Mechanic of the Year Award in 2002. Wayne resided in Newcastle for seventy years. He met his lifelong love, Paula Lerae Pillen, of Newcastle, through his cousin, Sharon. As they became more acquainted with each other, he would constantly tell people, “This is the girl I’m going to marry.” The two lovebirds married on June 2, 1958. Shortly after, they welcomed twins into the world. Over the years, they were blessed with four more children.  Wayne loved many things, but his three favorite hobbies were fishing, watching the Minnesota Vikings, and gardening. He grew the best tomato plants around. He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. 

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Paula, children, Tim (Siri) McDougall of Medford, OR, Tammy McDougall of Newcastle, WY, Cindy McDougall of Omaha, NE, Vickie (Dennis) Switzer of Douglas, WY, Robert (RaDona) McDougall of North Platte, NE, and Jason McDougall of Phoenix, AZ,  nine grandchildren: Jeffery, Douglas, and Paul Switzer, Justin and Brian Fletcher, Nicholas and Benjamin McDougall, Michael and Jonathan McDougall. He has two great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Switzer and Liam McDougall. He is also survived by his siblings Gary (Alice) McDougall, Ruth McDougall, Richard (Karen) McDougall, and his ornery, mini-Aussie, Sage. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leeland and Evelyn McDougall, sisters, Barbara Warner and Gayle Mundell, brother, Robert McDougall and granddaughter, Trinity McDougall. 

Services for Wayne will be held January 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Ty Checketts officiating.
