Beloved husband of Carolyn M. Loving father of Wallace F. III Carol, John H. Patty Adams and Carolyn E. Proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mr. Gabler was a 1938 graduate of Royal Oak High School. He graduated from Central Michigan University in 1944 and served in the US Air Force as a Captain and Command Flight Instructor on B-17 and B-19 Bomber Aircraft during World War II. He was the General Manager of Hagelsteins Bakery in Royal Oak and previously served on the Royal Oak City Commission, former Mayor Pro- Tem of Royal Oak, Royal Oak School Board and Royal Oak Draft Board. He was also a member of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners where he was a Past Chairman. Mr. Gabler is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Royal Oak. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8 pm at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home 705 W. 11 Mile Rd. 4 blks E. of Woodward, Royal Oak. Funeral Monday 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial Oakview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
