Funeral services for lifelong Weston County resident Vonda Marie Linton Rothleutner, 65, will be at 10:00 am Saturday, January 20th at the Upton Elementary School auditorium. Father Phil Wagner and Deacon Ken Pitlick of Corpus Christi Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery near Upton. A vigil service will be at 7:00 pm Friday, January 19th at Worden Chapel in Newcastle. The family prefers memorial contributions to benefit the Upton Public Library, Edwin F. Japp V.F.W. Mrs. Rothleutner died Sunday, January 14th at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle following a lengthy illness.
Vonda was born May 11, 1941 in Newcastle, Wyoming the daughter of Ivan and Eleanor M. Stanton Linton. On October 3, 1959, she was united in marriage to Thomas Rothleutner. Together the couple owned and operated T. & R. Automotive for thirty four years. She also served as a Girl and Boy Scout Leader, 4-H leader, school bus driver and second mother to her children?s friends. Vonda was a devoted mother, enjoying reading, especially to her grandchildren; bird watching and writing poems and short stories. Mrs. Rothleutner worked tirelessly for twenty years in emergency management serving the community she and Tom loved. In 2005, Vonda worked and acquired for Weston County, Wyoming the largest homeland security grant in the nation.
Preceding her in death was one brother, Gene Linton.
Surviving her are her husband of Upton; children Elena Gary Mellor of Newcastle, Rick Rothleutner of Upton, Andy Margaret Rothleutner of Worland, WY, April Rothleutner of Newcastle; Genell Rothleutner of Chadron, NE, and Joy Steve McNutt of Upton. Also surviving are her grandchildren Kalina Mellor and Christopher Mellor of Casper; Matthew, Eric, Thomas, Mitchell Rothleutner, and Josh and Matthew Pounds all of Worland; and Jacob McNutt of Upton. Her mother Eleanor Marie Romick of Martin, SD, Father Ivan Linton of Elephant Butte, NM, sister Ivy Jack Birdsall of Martin, SD and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
