Virginia Alice Lynn was born August 26, 1923 in Sheridan, Wyoming the daughter of John and Lucille Andrews Henderson. She was the youngest of five children. On October 8, 2009 she passed to join her family and beloved husband Howard. She was dearly loved by her son Jim Lynn and wife Teena of Edgemont, their daughter Tanya and her husband Darrell Harrod and their son Landon James of Wake Forest, North Carolina. Virginia loved her nieces and nephews Barbra Max Weekly, Nancy Calvin Cutler, Pat Les Rendel, Jan Hauf, John Henderson, Walter Henderson and Alan Patricia Henderson and their families.
Her father John worked for the railroad in the Newcastle, Cambria and Sheridan areas. He was a building contractor and built their home in Newcastle. Virginia graduated from Newcastle High School. She went to work for the phone company as a telephone operator.
Her brother's best friend Howard Lynn "took a shine" to Virginia. They were married in Deadwood, South Dakota and ranched on the prairie north of Newcastle. The light of their lives was born, their son Jim. When Howard's health failed the ranch was sold and the family moved to Newcastle. Virginia cared for her mother and Howard's parents as well as provided in home childcare for families around Newcastle. After Howard's death, Virginia worked at Weston County Hospital and Manor as a cook. Always a wonderful baker, Virginia was known for her pies. You knew you were well thought of when she baked a pie for you. Christmas brought the heavenly divinity she created. It was Howard's favorite. After retirement Virginia enjoyed her family. Helping with shearing or branding meals or family holiday gatherings. One of her favorites was the Winter Picnics with her cousins at Sundance. Her brother Kennith shared her home until his death. In 2008, Virginia moved to Edgemont to be closer to Jim and Teena. Always a quiet gentle person she soon made many new friends. Her wonderful ways and her pies will be missed by family, friends, and especially Jim and Teena's shearing crew. Virginia was a wonderful lady and the sweetest mom over.
