Viola Coutant

Funeral services for Viola M. Coutant, 89, will be held at 10:00 am Monday, March 10th at First Baptist Church, Upton, Wyoming with Rev. Randy Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Upton Greenwood Cemetery under direction of Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle, Wyoming. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Monday, March 10th at Upton First Baptist Church. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Upton Ambulance Services and Upton EMT's. Mrs. Coutant died Friday, March 7th at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle, Wyoming.

Viola was born April 27, 1918 at Colesburg, Iowa the daughter of James and Mabel nee Bond Shaw. She was a graduate of Osterdock High School in Osterdock, Iowa. Vi worked for many years at the Dubuque Packing Company in Dubuque, Iowa before moving to Upton, WY in 1963. In Upton, she and her husband owned and operated "Coutant's Conoco" until their retirement.

Survivors include her brother Kenneth Shaw of Blairstown, IA; three daughters, Linda Clark of Norridge, IL, Marilyn Shaffer of Osage, IA and Norene Roth of Darien, WI; step daughter Roberta Smith of Indiana. Vi was also blessed with nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one greata�"great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Vi is preceded in death by her husband Charles W. 'Smokey" Coutant and many other loved ones.
