Vera Westlake

VERA KOLB WESTLAKE age 84, of Shelby Twp. passed away on March 11, 2009 at Sunrise Assisted Living. Vera was born June 16, 1924 in Warren Twp. to Allen G. and Margaret Doepfer Kolb. A lifelong resident of Macomb County, Mrs. Westlake spent over 30 years on the family garden farm. She was a 1942 graduate of Utica High School and was employed with The Crysler Corp. at the Tank Arsenal Proving Grounds of Utica and Chrysler Engineering in Highland Park. She married Arthur C. Westlake on November 23, 1946. She was a "stay at home" mom and worked for JoAnn Fabrics for 15 years after the death of her husband in 1975. Vera is survived by her son James A. Kathy Westlake, daughter in law Diane Westlake, 3 grandchildren, James Jr., Jana, and Maren. She was pre-deceased by son Jack Westlake and brother Arnold G. Kolb. Funeral Services 10:00 AM Saturday at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd., 3 blks. E. of Van Dyke Utica. Visitation 2-9PM Friday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT.
