Ulia Matcheva, age 45, a resident of Troy, passed away September 19, 2014 at her home surrounded by family. She was born September 6, 1969 in Bulgaria to Konstantin and Nevena Matchev. Ulia received her Master's degree from Purdue University and then worked as a financial analyst for Ford Motor Company. She enjoyed shopping, listening to music, going to the beach and skiing out West. One of her happiest moments was when she met the love of her life, Nick. The first time Nick met Ulia, he knew he was meant to be with her. He asked her out several times, but she resisted. He then discovered she wanted to go to the Latin Music Festival in Columbus, Ohio, but felt it was too far away. Nick decided to surprise her. He picked her up after work, drove down to the festival, where they danced until 2 a.m. It was a remarkable first date and one that led to a wonderful life together, including the birth of their beautiful son, Simeon. Ulia was the beloved wife of Nick; loving mother of Simi; cherished daughter of Konstantin and Nevena; dear cousin of Moni Matchev; also survived by many loving friends. The visitation will be Thursday 2-8 p.m. and service Friday 11 a.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E. of Woodward, Royal Oak.
