Stella Rose Tomaszycki, 91, of Royal Oak, formerly of Detroit, died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Wynwood of Troy. She was born Jan. 24, 1917, in Boston, MA. Mrs. Tomaszycki was a graduate of Pershing High School, where she enjoyed playing tennis and the violin, and also attended Wayne State University. She was the proud recipient of a Webster's Dictionary for winning a spelling bee in eighth grade. Mrs. Tomaszycki met her husband Henry at Lyria, a Polish dance and choir group. She was a devout member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Royal Oak, where she took on various leadership roles. Surviving are her children, Lawrence H. Susan of Ferndale, Mary Ann L. Thomas Folk of Ann Arbor, Jerome S. Donna of Berkley and James P. Kathleen of Waterford Township; siblings, John Theresa Wysocki of Alpena and Dorothy the late Bill Borsuk of Oxford; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Louise, and by a sister, Matilda.
