Funeral services for longtime Newcastle resident Shirley Mae King, 70, will be held Friday, September 19th at 2:00 pm at Worden Chapel with Pastor Mick Bohn of Newcastle Foursquare Church officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, September 18th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Worden Chapel
Mrs. King died Saturday, September 13th at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma after a courageous battle with cancer.
Shirley was born March 12, 1928 in Iowa Falls, Iowa. She moved to Des Moines, Iowa with her family as a small child. She met Lyle King in 1960, they were married on November 6, 1960, and the couple moved to Newcastle that same year where they have resided since.
She enjoyed sewing and was an extremely talented seamstress. She also enjoyed creating quilts and baking. She also enjoyed the outdoors and was often found in the mornings feeding the numerous turkeys that lived by her house. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandkids were the highlight of her life.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Lyle King of Newcastle; one son, Burl King of Broken Arrow, OK; one daughter Audra Dudzinski and husband Eric of Newcastle' five grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany and Josh King of Broken Arrow, OK and Collin and Wyatt Dudzinski of Newcastle.
