Shirley Hitch

Shirley Cora Westlake Hitch, age 87, passed away Sept. 4, 2014. She was born March 26, 1927, in Utica, the daughter of the late William and Hildegard Westlake. She married her late husband George on June 18, 1949 and was a lifetime resident of the Utica area. Dear mother of Lynn Geary North, Rick Tamara Hitch, Mary Jim Patterson and Sharon Jim Henry. Loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and volunteering at school, church and the hospital. She loved playing card games with her family and reading mystery novels. Friends and family may visit at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd. 3 blks. E. of Van Dyke Sunday and Monday 3:00-8:00 pm. Rosary 7:00 pm Monday. Funeral Mass on Tuesday at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 12509 19 Mile Rd., Sterling Heights where she will lie in state from 9:30 until 10:00 am, when mass will begin. Interment at Utica Cemetery.
