Shirley Arlene Bossick, age 89, a long time resident of Royal Oak, passed away in Gladwin on August 8, 2014. Shirley was born September 30, 1924 in Royal Oak. She enjoyed her ruffled shirts, getting her hair and nails done, traveling to different states, and walking the beaches of Florida with her late husband, Jack Bossick. This was truly a love story. Shirley and Jack were married 72 years. The two of them were inseparable. They could not be without one another and were truly devoted to each other. Shirley only wanted to be with her husband, so after two months, she joined her beloved Jack. The hearts that were joined as one are together again, forever reunited, in the gates of Heaven. Shirley was the beloved wife of Jack, whom she married May 2, 1942 in Royal Oak. Loving mother of Jack Junior Bossick II, Nancy Lee Jack Harris, Karen Jean Wayne Henning, Steven "Mike" Bossick, and Robert Charles Laurie Bossick. Proud grandmother of five granddaughters, Gina Kopitz, Julie Lance Harris, Cindy Harris, Wendy Eric Joslin, and Brette Bossick; nine grandsons, Peter Bossick, Jack Harris Jr., Wayne Kerry Henning Jr., David Jessica Bossick, Adam Bossick, Zachariah Bossick, Andrew Bossick, Nathan Bossick, and Matthew Bossick; and 13 great-grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers, Dick, Robert and Charles; sister, Mary; and daughter-in-law Susan Bossick, wife of Jack Junior Bossick II. Family will receive friends Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak, MI 48067. A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 14, 2014 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Reverend Dale Hunter officiating. Interment will take place in South Lyon Cemetery on Stryker Street in South Lyon.
