Sharon Barker

Funeral services for Sharon Louise Barker, 63, will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 7th at Osage Community Bible Church with Rev. Tommy Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle, Wyoming under direction of Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle. Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, April 5th from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Worden Chapel and also from 10:00 am to service time Saturday at Osage Community Bible Church. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Osage Community Bible Church in lieu of flowers.
Mrs. Barker died unexpectedly of natural causes at her home in Newcastle on April 1st.
Sharon was born April 26, 1943 in Newcastle, Wyoming the daughter of Donald and Louise Bohan Mitich. Sharon was adopted at a very early age by her mother?s second husband H. Stacy Mendenhall and was raised and educated in the Weston County area.
While raising children, Sharon was active in both Boy and Girl Scouting and Job?s Daughters. She played a significant role in bringing 4-H to the Osage community as well as writing the newspaper column ?Osage and the Oil Field? for the Newsletter Journal for a number of years.
She had been an EMT and a member of the Osage Ambulance Service. She also had employment as a security guard, a bookkeeper, and a community babysitter, but spent most of her life raising her children and grandchildren. Sharon received her degree in Business in 1992 through the Gillette, Wyoming campus.
Later in life, Sharon took much joy in her Bible studies and in the activities of the Osage Community Bible Church and their Ladies Club, of which she was a member.
Her passions included her grandchildren, finding time for gardening and crocheting whatever one could possibly find themselves needing.
Survivors include five sons, Steven Ankeney, Michael Penny Ankeney, Robert Judy Ankeney, James Ankeney, and Jason Jodi Barker; one brother JD Junie Mendenhall; one sister Judy Terry Klein, twenty grandchildren and two great grandsons. She had seven biological children, however, she raised, chose, and loved countless others who entered her door and never left her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Stacy Mendenhall, one daughter Delinda Ankeney Adkins; one son Richard Ankeney, and one grandson Christopher Adkins.
