Sgt. Michael T. Baker, age 27, of Royal Oak, lost his five-year battle with cancer November 7th, 2010 at home, surrounded by close friends and family. Sgt. Baker was a dedicated U.S. Marine who proudly served his country through two tours in Iraq. His strength, courage and dedication were admired by all who knew him. Loving husband of Kelly Danaher Baker. Devoted father of Gracie Jane. Cherished son of Shelly Jeffrey Cingel and Michael Leslie Baker. Adored brother of Sarah, Megan and Bryan. Beloved son-in-law of Alan and Sandra, brother-in-law to Andrew Carrie and Shaun Danaher. Proud uncle of Owen and Miles. Michael also leaves behind his grandparents, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and comrades that will miss him deeply. The visitation will be Tuesday 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday 1-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture service at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Sgt. Baker will lie in state Thursday 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Royal Oak. The burial will take place at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak.
