Sandy passed away at 4:10 am on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Weston County Health Services after a yearlong battle with cancer at the age of 83 years old.
Sandy was born July 5, 1940, in Rome, New York to Dorothy and Jack Kessler. She was the oldest of 8 children. She had 4 sisters and 3 brothers. She graduated from Westmoreland High School in 1958 and she worked various jobs around New York, finally landing at the Forest Service at Blue Ridge Ranger Station in Happy Jack, Arizona in 1976. In 1980, she transferred to Avery, Idaho, next to Young, Arizona, then finally to Supervisors office in Phoenix, Arizona. She worked there until 1987 when she took a medical retirement.
In 1988, Sandy moved back to New York for a while, then to Battle Mountain, Nevada. From there, she lived in various places in South Dakota before moving to Wyoming. She spent a couple years there before finally settling in Newcastle, Wyoming in 2000.
Sandy is survived by a son and daughter in law, Tim and Teri Kessler of Newcastle, Wyoming; a daughter, Darlene Moore of Powell, Tennessee, 3 sisters; Arlene Occhipinti of Rome, New York, Nancy Kessler of Holly Springs, North Carolina and Karen Herrick of Sumter, South Carolina. She is also survived by 1 brother, Dale Kessler of Rome, New York, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Sandy is preceded in death by both parents, 1 sister; Charlotte Hubel; 2 brothers; Jack Kessler and Paul Kessler.
Sandy was a longtime member of Jehovah Witnesses.
