Ruben Gomez

Gomez, Ruben R., age 78, June 11, 2010 of Shelby Twp. Beloved husband of Joyce. Dear father of Linda Komer, Kathleen Paul Raab, David Debbie Gomez and the late son in law Roger Komer. Loving grandfather of Samantha, Zachary, Amy, Katie, Joey and Joshua. Loving great grandfather of Justin and Nicholas. Dear brother of John Lorry Gomez, Arthur Dorothy Gomez, Bertha Porter and the late Esther, Paul, Annie and David. He retired in January 1991 after 30 years as Sgt. with the Shelby Twp. Fire Dept. where he also served as Treasurer of the Pension Board for several years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and St. Lawrence Catholic Church where he formerly sang in the choir. He loved music and was a self taught piano and guitar player. He loved bowling, golf, but his first love was his family and being with them. Friends may call at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd., 3 blks. E. of Van Dyke Utica from 1:00 - 9:00 PM Monday. Mr. Gomez will lie in state on Tuesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 44633 Utica Rd., Utica from 9:30 AM until 10:00 AM time of Mass. Entombment St. Lawrence Cemetery. Memorials suggested to Karmanos Hospice or The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.
