Roderick "Rod" MacDougall, age 29, passed away suddenly September 6, 2014 at St. John Hospital in Warren. Rod was born May 7, 1985 in Warren, Michigan. He was on his way to the West Coast to settle in Oregon. Roderick was a unique, free spirited simple loving man. He was silly and funny and a deep down kind hearted person. He really enjoyed spending time with his family and was often very entertaining. He had an extravagant culinary taste and often made people laugh. He loved rock and roll music and played shows out on the west coast as a lead man playing guitar and vocals with his best friend on bass, his passion in life was music. He will be missed. Loving son of Diane Ken MacDougall Porter and the late Roderick Earl MacDougall. Dear brother of Amanda MacDougall and Shannon MacDougall. Best friend and "brother" of Benjamin Tamera Haga. Step brother of Amy David Porter LaDuke and Amanda Porter Michael Krzesicki. Nephew of Tony Cynthia Swalla, Jerry Glenys Swalla, the late Andrea Swalla Grand, Mark MacDougall, and David MacDougall. Rod was also deeply loved by his best friends family. "Fatherly figure" Elvin Haga and his late wife and Rod's "West Coast Mom" Sharon. He is also survived by many other loving family members and friends. Visitation Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 2-8 PM at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, located at 705 W. Eleven Mile Road, 4 blocks East of Woodward in Royal Oak, Michigan 48067. His celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014 11:a.m. at the funeral home led by his family and friends with music and celebration. Interment will take place at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley, Michigan.
