Robert Anthony Pfeifer, age 68, of Southfield, died January 7, 2014.
He was born August 11, 1945 in Detroit. Robert graduated from Ferndale High School and then from Walsh College with a degree in accounting. He then became qualified as a certified public accountant. Robert served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. He began his professional career with American Motor Corporation. He then enjoyed a long career at the American Red Cross as a comptroller. After his retirement from the Red Cross, he accepted a position with Community Care Services in Lincoln Park as Director of Finance. Upon his second retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his homes in Torch Lake, MI and Ellenton, FL. Robert's travels took him all over the United States. He especially loved the Pacific Northwest and was proud of climbing Beacon Rock in Oregon once every decade. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Winifred Pettit Pfeifer. He is survived by his sister, Carol and her husband Gerald Ihme, of Lansing; cousins, John Allen of Berkley and Jeff Allen of Pontiac; and his beloved friend, Ann Barnes. The visitation will be Saturday 11 a.m. until the time of the service 1 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak.
