Robert Kelly

Kelly, Robert L. Age 56 August 23, 2012 Beloved son of Thelma and the late Bill Kelly. Loving father of Christine Michael Lope and Robert P. Claire Kelly. Proud grandfather of Andrew. Dear brother of Mike Donna Kelly. Uncle of Kurt Robin Kelly and David Kelly. Born and raised in Plymouth, Indiana, Rob graduated from Valparaiso University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He then received his Juris Doctor from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 1981 where he also earned a Master of Science in Molecular Biology in 1994. Upon graduating from U of D law school, Rob began a long successful career as an intellectual property attorney in the Metro Detroit area. During his career he gained national recognition for successfully representing the inventor of a home remedy who tried to save his son from a debilitating nerve disease, depicted in the movie Lorenzo's Oil. He was also an avid musician and will be greatly missed by many close friends and family. Visitation Sunday 3-7 p.m. and Monday 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral 11 a.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd. 4 blocks E. of Woodward, Royal Oak. Burial Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at Oakhill Cemetery in Plymouth, IN.
