Robert A. Garner, age 74, a resident of Royal Oak, died August 14, 2012 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born August 3, 1938 in Detroit to the late Victor and Marie Garner. Mr. Garner served in the U.S. Navy - Sea Bees from 1955-1959. He was Chairman of the Royal Oak Fireman's Civil Service Board since 1978; former coach, manager and sponsor of the Royal Oak Federation Baseball Association 1965-1985; President of the Vegas Construction Corp. in Royal Oak; CEO of Reno II Corp. in Royal Oak; former owner of A.J.'s Dugout in Lake City, MI; member of the American Legion Post #300 in Lake City; lifetime member of the Royal Oak Elks Lodge #1523; and member of the "Michigan Boys" since 2000. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Garner; children, Shad Teresa Garner of Ortonville, Jodie Doug Leveille of Brooklyn, MI and Bobbie Vince Garrisi of Chesterfield; sister, Diane Spenser Libby of Clarkston; 11 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Elliott died 1961; and sister, Vickie Wade. There will be a memorial service on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. for Lodge of Sorrows at the Royal Oak Elks Lodge with the presentation of the flag.
