Robert Louis Deneau, age 88, a resident of Clinton Twp. passed away Sept. 3, 2011 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, Clinton Twp. He was born in Birmingham, MI. on November 28, 1922.
He was a member of the Utica United Methodist Church serving on the Ushers Club, Workshop Committee and Board of Trustees. He was Master of Ceremonies and President 1970 of the Utica Lions Club. He was a WWII veteran receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army Air Corps involved in pilot training.
He graduated from Utica High School in 1940, was a Journeyman Tool Maker through the Henry Ford Apprentice School, received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and was certified in Industrial Psychology and Quantitative Analysis from Wayne State University and Emery Riddle University.
His career was in the U.S. machine tool industry as a Vice President of European Operations for a major U.S. machine tool company in London, England, Cologne/Stuttgart, Germany and Basle, Switzerland and a sales/manufacturing representative of special machine tools and owner of a tool and die manufacturing company. He retired in 2005 from the U.S. Department of Defense as a representative to the Egyptian Government, Ministry of Military Production, responsible for involvement from construction to full up manufacturing capability of the largest operation in the Mideast in Cairo, Egypt.
He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Deneau of Clinton Township, MI. and Robin John McGrath of Romeo, MI.; grandsons Scott Jaime Murphy and John Robert McGrath. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Shaw Deneau on September 17, 2007; grandaughter Kelly Elizabeth McGrath on January 12, 1998; and sister Linda Pearl Sitzer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Utica United Methodist Church, 8650 Canal Rd., Sterling Heights. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Easter Seals or The March of Dimes.
