Memorial services for Richard L. ?Dick? Garner, 62, will be held at 4:00 pm Wednesday, April 18th at the Upton Community Center with Pastors Charles Dutcher and Bill Haley officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. A gathering of friends will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Wednesday at the Community Center. The family prefers memorial contributions to the Upton Fire Department and Ambulance Service. Worden Funeral Directors are in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Garner died Friday, April 13th in a trucking accident near Wright, Wyoming.
He was born April 12, 1945 in Mapleton, MN the son of Everett Lee and Jennie Rammel Chavez Garner, and was raised near Richwood, MN on Buffalo Lake. Dick graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1962 and went on to accomplish many things. He joined the U.S. Army National Guard in 1969 and retired in 1998 after 29 years services as an E-7 Master Sergeant. He was a certified Mechanical Draftsman, worked as a contractor, Real Estate Agent, and drove truck in Minnesota, Wisconsin and was currently employed by Dan Hart Patrol at the time of his death.
Richard enjoyed travel, hunting, fishing, motorcycles and time with his family. His life motto was ?Mi Vida Loco.?
Survivors include his children, Theresa James Bradley of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Rebecca Garner of Rochester, Minnesota, Richard Everette Garner of Upton, Wyoming Jennifer Curt Donner of Upton, Wyoming and Braylan Materi of Upton, Wyoming; seven grand children Nickolas Garner, Adam Britt, Maia Rowenkamp, Jada Bradley, Danaka Bradley, Yasmine Donner, Brandon Donner, and an eighth unborn Donner grandchild. Also surviving is a brother Joseph Garner of Upton, Wyoming, nephews Joseph Garner, Jr. and family of Alaska, currently serving in Iraq, Matthew Garner and family of Rozet, Wyoming, and niece Melissa Garner of Virginia Beach, Virginia currently serving in the U.S. Navy.
Preceding him in death were he grandparents, Joseph and Mary Alice Garner, Nicolaus and Peoquinta Chavez, parents Everett and Jennie Garner and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
