Richard Clancy

Richard T. Clancy, age 92, a resident of Royal Oak for almost 60 years, died February 11, 2013 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Frances H. Clancy nee Cronin; the couple married March 29, 1948 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Beverly, MA; children, Michael Francisca Clancy of Troy, Frances J. Clancy of Royal Oak, Mary Beth Clancy of Norwood, MA, Richard T. Nancy Clancy, Jr. of Rochester Hills and Deirdre LeRoy Clancy-Kelley of Norwood, MA; grandchildren, Erin Rich Romo, Nora Alan Mullin, Sarah Clancy, Thomas A. Clancy, Patrick R. Catelyn Clancy, Brian Kelley, Erin Kelley and David Kelley; great granddaughters, Maya Romo and Charlotte Mullin; friend and caregiver, Pat Houston. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Rev. William Clancy, SSJ, John D. Clancy and Thomas M. Clancy. Mr. Clancy was born June 9, 1920 in Beverly, MA to the late Michael and Nora Clancy. He graduated from Salem State University in Salem, MA with a BS in education. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, who served in the Pacific Theater as a Lt. 2nd Grade from 1942 to 1946. He worked for the FBI from 1946-1957 as a special agent in the Miami, San Francisco and Boston areas. He was the past president of the Michigan Chapter and past vice president of the Midwest Region of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI. He retired in 1985 from the Chrysler Corporation after 28 years working in Human Resources and Labor Relations. He was a member of the National Shrine of the Little Flower Catholic Church in Royal Oak, where he served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister and usher. He was the president of the Council, a member of the Synod and the Shrine Serra Club. He was also a member of the Shrine's grade and high school Dad's Club and the University of Detroit's Dad's Club. The visitation will be Wednesday 3-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mr. Clancy will lie in state Thursday 11:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 12 noon at the National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Beverly, MA.
