Phillip Hawarny

Phillip Joseph Hawarny, age 74, passed away on October 3, 2008. He was born December 9, 1933 in Milan, MI. Loving husband of Arlene. Dear father of Janet, Joyce Bruce Wilson and Cynthia. Dearest grandfather of Briannah Wilson. Brother of Ray Deloris and JoAnn. Brother-in-law of Rowena Hawarny. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunt Sally Hanna and Aunt Julia Hanna. Preceded in death by his parents, Amelia and Michael, brother Bob, nephew David, aunts and uncles. Mr. Hawarny received his undergraduate and master degrees from Eastern Michigan University, and also completed programs at Wayne State University. He was a dedicated teacher, coach and counselor. He started his career in Dearborn and retired from the Berkley school system. He loved to vacation with family, visit with friends, read and enter 5K and 10K races, completing the Free Press Marathon in 1991. Visitation Monday 4-8 p.m. and service Tuesday 4 p.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Rd. 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Memorials to the charity of the donor's choice.
