Funeral services for Pearl I. Kennedy, 82, will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, February 16th at Upton United Methodist Church with Rev. Joseph Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at the Upton Greenwood Cemetery under direction of Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle. A visitation will also be held Saturday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am for those who wish to pay their respects.
Mrs. Kennedy died Monday, February 11th at Weston Manor Nursing Home in Newcastle of natural causes.
Pearl was born April 8, 1925 at Estherville, Iowa the daughter of Marion and Florence Miles Phillips. She was married to Albert C. O'Clair on January 16, 1944 and they were the parents of four children. They later divorced and she then moved to Upton, Wyoming to be near relatives.
In March of 1954, she married William Buzz Kennedy. As Buzz was in the oil field, they moved quite frequently, mostly to towns in Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota. They spent several years in Casper till Buzz passed away in 1980. She then returned to Upton, which she considered home, to be near her favorite brother in law and sister in law George and Mavis Kennedy.
Survivors include two sons, Alvin Barb O'Clair of Texas, James O'Clair of Casper, WY and one daughter Carolyn Lee Madsen of Gillette, WY; one brother Dwight Gloria Phillips of Kingman, AZ; one sister Maxine Warren Scott of Valentine, NE; 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Boyce, husband, great granddaughter Keri and daughter Marilynn O'Clair.
