Memorial services for Newcastle resident Orville W. Hayes, 92, will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, August 3rd at Worden Chapel with Pastor Charles Dutcher and Bill Haley officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family prefers memorial contributions to Treasured Memories Hospice in lieu of floral arrangements. Coffee and refreshments will be served at Newcastle Senior Services following the interment.
Mr. Hayes died Monday, July 31st at Weston County Health Services.
Orville Wendall Hayes was born September 12, 1913 at Stickney, North Dakota the son of Ernest and Ella L. Utter Hayes. Orville attended school through the eighth grade. He was employed on farms and ranches in his youth. He had been a resident of Moorcroft, Wyoming, Lance Creek, Wyoming, and Cut Bank, Montana before moving to Newcastle, Wyoming where he was employed as a carpenter. On October 20, 1995 he married Verna McMullen.
He has a member of the International Order Of Odd Fellows Lodge in Newcastle. Orville was considered a friendly, kind, considerate and generous man. He was also inclined to be very musical and played the banjo and fiddle.
He is survived by his wife Verna Hayes of Newcastle; and many nieces and nephews; and two sisters?in?law Grace and Mina Hayes.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two wives Milda Brahms and Hazel Morgan; six brothers and one sister.
