Oneida Stevens

Oneida D. Stevens, age 87, a resident of Clawson, formerly of Berkley, passed peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Henry Ford Hospice of Warren. She was born August 10, 1925 in Auburntown, TN to the late Martin and Claire Belle Wiseman Francis. She is survived by her children, Gary Nancy Stevens, Nancy Stevens and Mark Stevens; brothers, Robert, Joe Ruth, Martin Erna, Gene Lydia, Don Deanna and Doug Judy Francis; and grandchildren, Brian Stevens and Katie Bryan Belter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Stevens, on April 30, 2011; and sisters, Edna James Bain and Judy Jack Ellison. Mrs. Stevens graduated from Royal Oak High School in 1943 and was married to Donald Stevens on October 16, 1948. She worked as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Woodside Bible Church in Troy and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing Pinochle, Dominos and Kings in the Corner. She loved to watch game shows, especially Wheel-of-Fortune, and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. The visitation will be held Wednesday 3-8:30 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mrs. Stevens will lie in state Thursday 10 a.m. until the time of the service 11 a.m. at the Woodside Bible Church, 6600 Rochester Road, Troy.
