Norma Livingston

May 16, 1929 — January 31, 2007

A memorial service for Norma Jean Livingston, 77, will be held at First United Methodist Church in Newcastle Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Eric Parker officiating. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established with the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation, P.O. Box 1348, Laramie, WY, 82073. Worden Funeral Directors are in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Livingston passed away January 31, 2007at Weston Manor Nursing Home.

Norma was born May 16, 1929, the first of three children to Bill and Mary Mangus. The family moved from Brush, Colorado to Osage, Wyoming in 1936 where her mother died in 1937. Norma attended high school in Newcastle, but graduated from Upton in 1946. She continued her education in Colorado Springs, Co., attending Blair Secretary School. Following graduation she returned to Newcastle and worked in the law office for Mr. Wakeman and Mr. Chester Jones. She married Ellis ?Buddy? Livingston Nov. 10, 1949. The couple lived on a ranch near Devils Tower the winter of 1950-1951. Perry Ellis was born in the fall of 1951 and by the spring of 1952 they moved to the Livingston Ranch near Inyan Kara Mountain. From 1953 to 1956, three more children, Debra Jo, Janice Lee, and Douglas Jay, were born.

Norma stayed very active with her young family. She helped with the haying in the summer months until the children were old enough to drive the tractors and teams of horses. She was active in the neighborhood women?s club which assisted women with tasks that needed many helping hands.

After all the children graduated from Sundance High School in 1974, Norma and Buddy moved to the Newcastle ranch. There Norma continued her involvement in Wyoming Farm Bureau, Wyoming CowBelles, United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi, International Chapter of P.E.O., Alzheimer?s Association, and bridge club.

Norma is survived by her husband, Ellis ?Buddy? Livingston of Newcastle, WY; two sons, Perry Livingston and his wife, Carla Lynn of Sundance, WY., and Douglas Livingston and his wife Peggy of Newcastle, WY.; two daughters, Debra Austin and her husband James of Hartsburg, Missouri, and Janice Livingston of Sundance, WY.; three grandsons, 5 granddaughters, one great-granddaughter; one brother, Bill Mangus and his wife Joyce of Mesa, Arizona; an aunt, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Norma was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Anderson Mangus, her father, William ?Bill? Mangus, one sister, Marilyn Mangus Gose, and one granddaughter, Shelly Marie Austin.
