Norma Dell Burns, age 84, of Clawson, formerly of Oak Park and Berkley, died August 31, 2009 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was born August 1, 1925 in Beckemeyer, IL to the late Everett and Margaret Fauke Hatmaker. Mrs. Burns was a 1943 graduate of Royal Oak High School. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Oak Park. She is survived by her children, Michael Evie Burns of Rochester Hills, Suzanne Burns of Berkley, Judith Strongman of Waterford, Maureen Burns of Berkley, Christopher Burns of De Land, FL, Carol Barber of Clawson, Mark Sherry Burns of Farmington Hills and Patrick Burns of Berkley; siblings, Harold Joan Hatmaker of Summerfield, FL and Betty Lou Gil Kloss of Clarkston; and sister-in-law, Jackie Hatmaker of Newbury Park, CA; 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin E. Burns, on March 19, 1997; and brother, Leroy Hatmaker. The visitation will be held Wednesday 2-8 p.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mrs. Burns will lie in state Thursday 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Oak Park, with the Rev. Paul Chateau officiating.
