Neal Norman

Neal M. Norman, age 87, a resident of Royal Oak for 54 years, died October 26, 2010 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born October 15, 1923 in Marion, IL. Mr. Norman retired from Radio Distributing Company in Taylor after many years of service. He was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served at Pearl Harbor and during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the Royal Oak Elks Club #1523, where he ran the Elks Club golf league and helped with the annual picnic. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #253 in Royal Oak. He enjoyed golf and at a late age came in 7th place in a city-wide hole-in-one contest. He also was an avid bowler and bowled two 700 series. He is survived by his children, Susan George Paris of Lynnfield, MA and Candy Norman of Clawson; sister, June Hendershot of Delmar, CA; grandchildren, Amy Paris, Julie Estrella and Lisa Paris; and great grandchildren, Kyla Estrella and Liliana Estrella. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Norman, in 1992. The visitation will be Thursday 5-9 p.m. and Friday 12-9 p.m. with a Royal Oak Elks Lodge of Sorrow service Friday 7:30 p.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. The service will be Saturday 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Casey of Community Christian Church officiating. The burial will take place at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley. Memorials to William Beaumont Hospice, American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer's Association appreciated.
