Memorial services for Mindy Sue Darrow, 39, of Newcastle were held Monday, June 7th at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Holland officiating. Burial followed in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions towards an educational scholarship for her sons Rodney and Grant, First United Methodist Church or the Weston County Children's Center.
Mindy died Monday, May 31st at her home in Newcastle of natural causes.
She was born December 9, 1970 at Sterling, Colorado the daughter of Larry and Jeanette (Carlson) Hoppal. She lived with her family in Sterling, Colorado and Chadron, Nebraska before moving to Newcastle, Wyoming where she graduated from Newcastle High School in May, 1989. She married Jay Leslie Darrow of Edgemont, South Dakota on May 26, 1990 and they lived in Rapid City where Mindy attended National College and received her business certificates. In 1992, they moved to Choctaw, Oklahoma where Jay was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base. Here, she was a special events ticket agent on Tinker Air Force Base and worked at a day care center. Jay returned to Newcastle in January, 2007 and Mindy in July, 2007. Mindy was employed as a day care teacher at Weston County Children's Center and studied to be a grade school teacher through Eastern Wyoming College at Torrington, Wyoming and Northwest College at Powell, Wyoming. She had received her teaching certificate in May.
Ms. Darrow was active in First United Methodist Church helping with the yearly bible school program, and sang in the choir.
She is survived by her loving sons Rodney George Darrow who was born January 30, 1996 and Grant Wayne Darrow who was born January 4, 2002; parents Jeane (Wayne) Sack and Larry (Betty) Hoppal; a sister Julie (Scott) Blakemore Niece and nephew Kayla and Cody Blakemore. Stepbrother Brett Kloberdanz stepsisters Tanya (Randy) Austin, Karla (Glenn) Einspahr, Kristi (Mike) Paetzel and Keelie (Michael) Froehlich Uncles Larry (Pam) Carlson, Jim (Jeanie) Hoppal, Rick Hoppal, John (Donna) Hoppal, Tom (Ginny) Hoppal; Aunts Nancy Blake and Judy (Dennis) Spencer; five nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents Pete and Helen Hoppal, maternal grandparents William and Phyllis Carlson and aunt Jean Hoppal.
