Wayne Arthur Liggett, 81, of Newcastle WY, died Thursday, August 7, at his home of natural causes.
He was born September 26, 1932, in Belle Fourche SD to Milford & Mildred (Rada) Liggett. He was raised around Belle Fourche with his 9 siblings and attended Belle Fourche High School. He served in the Army National Guard during the Korean War.
On August 7, 1953, he married Delores Berg in Belle Fourche. The couple soon after moved to Clareton WY where he worked in the oilfield. The couple with their children Patricia, Peggy and Layne, later moved to Newcastle where he managed the Farmer's Co-op. Dee passed away in 1984.
Wayne and Jewell became partners in life and business in 1985. He worked at Bob Carter Chevrolet and Thar's Feed and Ranch.
He was a member of Masons, Kalif Shrine Temple, Inyan Kara Shrine Club, Eastern Star, and the Moose Lodge in Gillette.
He enjoyed ranching, hunting, horseback riding, spending time with his grandchildren, and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include his partner Jewell, Newcastle; his son, Layne (Mary Kay), Sheridan WY; two daughters, Peggy Frank (Steve), Sioux City IA and Cindy French (Vance), Gillette WY; grandchildren Justin Abel, Crystal Parker (John), Chelsea Brown (Dusty), Nickolas Frank (Krista), Kaylyn Liggett (Patrick), Kelby Liggett, Joshua Mitchell, and Aaron Mitchell; and great grandkids Jaelin and Jace Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Patricia, his parents, and many brothers and sisters.
The family suggests donations to the Weston County Junior Rodeo in Wayne's name.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, August 11, at 2pm, Weston County Senior Services.
