Theresa I. Farella Harper, 92, passed away peacefully Friday, March 19, 2009 at Weston County Manor Nursing Home where she resided for three years. Theresa was born June 22, 1927 to Batista Farella and Olive Phillips Farella on the family ranch eleven miles north of Newcastle, Wyoming. She was the third child of eight. One died in infancy. She was raised on the family ranch and attended the one room country school and also Newcastle High School. On December 15, 1948 she married Vernon Harper at the Methodist Church in Rapid City, SD. They were the parents of one son that died at birth. They resided in Casper, Wyoming and Prague, Oklahoma. While they lived in Casper, her niece Geraldine Farnsworth lived with tem making it possible for her to attend deaf school. They also took in another girl, Valorie Romero so she could get her schooling. Theresa returned to Newcastle and worked cleaning houses and office, collecting enough money to live on her own. She was a penny pincher and very proud of what she accomplished and saved. Theresa loved people and was fortunate to babysit her great niece Shauna Groner for five years before she attended school. Theresa was blessed with a loving family and many wonderful friends. She was fortunate with the wonderful care she received while she was a resident at the manor. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sister Toots Farnsworth, sister-in-law Darla Farella, nieces Patti Allen, Geraldine Reynolds, Kathleen Merrill, Carol Rossman, Myrna Herber and Maxine Groner. Nephews Dennis Newlin, Doran Newlin, Randy Farella, Ty Farella, Tony Farella, Mike Farnsworth, Tom Farnsworth, David Doughty, Maurice Miller and Markus Miller.
Cremation has take place and a celebration of her life will be at a later date with burial at the Greenwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
