Funeral services for Mae E. Christensen, 91, will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 16th at First United Methodist Church of Newcastle with Rev. Paul Holland officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday also from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church of Newcastle The family prefers memorial contributions to Weston County Senior Center and First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Christensen died Sunday, May 13th at her home south west of Newcastle following a lengthy illness.
Mae was born April 16, 1921 at Upton, Wyoming the daughter of Oley A. and Lily Gail (Cummings) Darlington. She was a graduate of Newcastle High School and received Normal Teacher Training at Laramie, Wyoming. Mae taught rural school in Weston County until her marriage to Earl Christensen. The couple was married December 20, 1944 at Laramie, Wyoming and Mae became a ranch wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She enjoyed family ranch life, horseback riding, needle point, sewing, reading, cooking for family and travel.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile.
Surviving her are her husband Earl Christensen of Newcastle; two sons, Wayne (Judith) and Walter (Launa) Christensen of Newcastle; two daughters, Janet (David) Schultz of Newcastle and Janice (Steve) Langer of Upton; one sister Bette (Frank) Neal and one sister-in-law Kris Darlington. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren; Cody (Jennifer) Christensen of Casper, Wade (Tonya) Christensen of Newcastle, Greg Schultz of Newcastle, Christian (Vanessa) Schultz of Mission Viejo, CA, Karma (Tim) Rysell of Newcastle, Ross (Misty) Langer of Douglas, Clint (Jill) Langer of Sheridan, Gail (Shane) Lee of Gillette, Ryan (Nicole) Christensen of Sheridan, Tyrell (Diane) Christensen of Newcastle, Melissa Christensen of Denver, CO; 23 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, Wayne, George and Glen Darlington and infant grandchild, Michael Schultz.
