Mrs. Katie Cummings

Katie Lynn Cummings, 24, of Newcastle passed away June 30, 2012, at Crook County Memorial Hospital due to asthma complications. Funeral services will be held at Crouch Auditorium in Newcastle on Friday, July 6 at 2 p.m.
Katie was born July 26, 1987, in Newcastle, the daughter of John and Robin Riesland. She grew up on the Riesland Ranch riding horses, feeding cows and competing in youth rodeos. She rode in the mutton busting in Aladdin at the age of 5 and went on to win the All-Around in the junior and senior divisions of the Weston County Junior Rodeo. She competed in high school rodeos in Wyoming, where she loved the speed of pole bending. She also competed in basketball, speech, FFA and dance.
She was a member of Bethel 15 of the International Order Jobs Daughters and Chapter 30 Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Wyoming Professional Photography Association.
She graduated Newcastle High School in 2005, then attended Northwest Community College, earning an Associates Degree in Photography. She interned in New Jersey for 11 months, enhancing her trade with leading wedding photographers of the area. She moved back to Newcastle and started her own photography studio, Katie Lynn Photography, and several of her photos were published.
She married Colton Cummings on Oct. 25, 2008, and the two made their home north of Newcastle. Together they enjoyed life, from rock climbing to being on the water, boating. A yellow kayak was their new adventure, which the whole family enjoyed.
She is survived by her husband, Colton, and two loving children, Owen William and Riesland Elizabeth; her parents, John and Robin Riesland of Newcastle; her sister, Jamie Lee Foster (John) and nephew, Casey John, of Cheyenne; grandparents, Neal and Hazel Riesland of Newcastle and Marjory Hankins of Laramie; also her Uncle Rick Riesland and Aunt Connie (cousins Lori and Holly) and Aunt Linda and Uncle Jerry Phillips (cousins Ricky, Angie, Cayson, Bentley Phillips and Kelly, Todd, Henry Fuoss).
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, William Hankins III; Uncle Bill Hankins; and cousin, Billy Hankins.
A memorial has not been established at this time.
