Kathryn E. Adams died Dec. 18, 2011 at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle Wyoming. She was born June 23rd, 1929 at home in Bashaw Valley, Wisconsin to Edwin and Sophie Hanson. Kathryn married Curt (Shorty) Adams on July 21st, 1948 at the family farm in Spooner, Wisconsin.
Kathryn is survived by her husband Curt (Shorty) Adams and daughters Linda (Paul) Holland of Newcastle, Wyoming and Cheryl Russell of Sun City, Arizona. She is survived by her brother James (Elaine) Hanson of Soldotna, Alaska and sister Dorothy (Chuck) Beasley of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Sophie Hanson, and her brother Edwin Jr.
Kathryn had many passions in life which included caring for foster children. For example, in 1953 she mothered two of her own and five foster children all under the age of seven. After moving to Lander in 1962 she owned and operated a women's and children's clothing business known as Kathryn's Shop from 1966 until 1980 when health reasons caused her to sell the business and retire to Sun City, Arizona where she pursued crafts and hobbies. In Lander, Kathryn was cheerfully involved with Bethel Lutheran Church and loved every minute of hunting and fishing.
A memorial service for Kathryn Adams will be held January 14th at 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lander, Wyoming. She was buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery on Dec. 22, 2011 with a brief service. Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander, Wyoming was in charge of the arrangements. Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle assisted.
