Mrs. Joanne Day

Funeral services for Joanne L. Day, 77, will be held at 10:00 am Friday, July 16th at Worden Chapel with Rev. Paul Holland of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family would appreciate memorial contributions to First United Methodist Church or Newcastle Senior Services.

Mrs. Day died Monday, July 12th at Pioneer Manor in Gillette, WY.

Joanne was born July 29, 1932 in Newcastle, Wyoming the daughter of Joe Aaron Borgialli and Andrea Lorena (Weaver) Borgialli. She grew up on a ranch south west of Newcastle, WY and learned how to garden, milk the cows and work in the hay fields. She learned to cook and sew in 4a�"H as a child. She liked to cook and made hundreds of suckers every Christmas. She taught herself how to crochet. Her family was very important to her.

She attended the rural Borgialli School through the eighth grade. She moved to Newcastle during her freshman year of high school and lived with her grandmother Nettie Weaver so she could attend high school. The roads were not paved then and it was a problem getting to school in the winter. She graduated from Newcastle High School in 1951; She worked to Clifford's Cleaners while attending high school.

She married Jerry Day and to this union was born a daughter, Karen Day Engstrom. Joanne and Jerry were divorced when Karen was a baby. She moved to Moorcroft and cooked at The Hub Care. She later went to work for the State of Wyoming taking care of the rest area. She retired from the State of Wyoming.

Mrs. Day entered the Pioneer Manor in Gillette on December 28, 2001 due to ill health.

Surviving her are two grandsons, Tory (Jo) Robinson of Gillette, WY and their children Samantha, Nick and Paige, and James Engstrom of Gillette, WY. Granddaughter Shawna Durand of Gillette, WY. Her special son-in-law Bob Engstrom and special friend Deanna Braunlin and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her aunts Grace Hayes of Rangely, CO, Rovilla Thompson of Newcastle, and Carol Borgialli of Lincoln, NE. Also surviving are brothers James Lee (Winnie) Borgialli of Billings, MT, Roy Andrew (Shirley) Borgialli of Newcastle, and sister Rena Ruth (Minnie) and husband Robert Quick of Newcastle.

Preceding her in death were her parents, daughter Karen Engstrom; brothers Charles, George and Clarence Borgialli. Her grandparents, Andrew and Nettie (Coleman) Weaver and Charley and Rena (Michael) Borgialli.
