Joan Adel Gould 63 of Upton passed away Friday, Nov 18, 2011 at Weston County Health Services, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

She was born Nov 25, 1947 in Hot Springs, SD to Harry and Joyce Hey.

As a young girl she lived in Dudley, SD but went to school in Edgemont, SD. During high school she was a Volunteer Candy Striper at the Hospital in Edgemont.

After Graduating High School and attending Medical Assistance School in Minneapolis, MN she returned home, met and fell in love with Louis Gould.

On Feb 11, 1967 she married Louis Marion Gould in Edgemont, SD. The couple work and lived on several different ranched starting with the Joe Watt Ranch near Buffalo Creek. While there they were blessed with a daughter, Ladena Lynn. Three years later the second child Germaine completed their family. In 1972 the family moved to Upton, WY where Joan and Louie raised their family. Joan employed by Weston County School District #7 for 23 years.

Joan loved the outdoors. She and Louie would take off on their long weekends with the camper and fishing gear and you wouldn't see them again till Sunday evening with smiles from ear to ear. She also enjoyed hunting with Louie and harvested her share of trophies and meat for the table. When she couldn't hunt with a gun you would often see her with her camera, she loved catching wildlife in its own element. One of Joan's favorite animals to watch and take pictures of was any and all birds.

Joan was one of the ladies that help start Girl Scouts of America for the Upton area. She took many young girls and leaders to Camp Tatoka and started a Day Camp for the local troops at the Gose Ranch. She worked many long hours organizing the weekly meetings and kept the club going for many years. She was also in the Lady Bug Garden Club, this club tried their best for years to beautify Upton by planting flowers, and then keeping them watered, and during the holiday season placing cedar branches in the planters.

Survivors include her mother Joyce Hey of Edgemont, SD, her husband Louis Gould of Upton, Wy, two daughters Ladena (Scott) Buckley of Upton, Wy, and Germaine (Jeff) Gardner of Emmitt, ID; a sister June Wagner of Edgemont, SD and 6 grandchildren Kjersti Buckley, Colton Buckley, Kaylee Gardner, Clay Gardner, Kyle Gardner, and Cody Gardner. She was preceded in death by her father Walter Harry Hey.

Visitation will be from 1 - 2 pm Wednesday at the Boal Auditorium.
Services will be Wednesday, November 23rd, at 2 pm in the Boal Auditorium with Rick Mezger officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Joan's name to the Upton WYHEC Shooting Club, this is a new club in Upton that is teaching the youth of the area hunting and shooting skills. POB 165 Upton, Wyoming 82730
