Mrs. Jeannette Patik-McNutt

November 28, 1950 — July 31, 2011

Jeannette S. Patik McNutt passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011 after a short illness related to her life-long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Jeannette was born on November 28, 1950 in Newcastle, Wyoming, the daughter of James A. and Pauline L. (Sedgwick) Marchant. She spent most of her early childhood in the Morrisey Community on the Sedgwick Family Ranch. She attended school there until she was ten years old, and the family moved to Newcastle, where she finished her education at Newcastle High School, graduating with the class of 1969. Immediately after graduation, Jeannette moved to Lander, Wyoming to work as a nurse's aide at the Wyoming State Training School for the handicapped. In 1971, Jeannette married John M. Patik. This union was blessed with daughter Michelle in 1973. The family moved to Newcastle in 1974, where Jeannette lived ever since. Jeannette worked for the Inyan Kara Grazing Association for several years until complications with Multiple Sclerosis forced her to retire. Jeannette later moved to the Weston County Manor. Here she married her life-long friend, Harold McNutt.
Jeannette was a member of the Newcastle First United Methodist Church and the Cane and Able Support Group. She loved the arts and crafts projects at the manor and was especially gifted at painting ceramics. She always tried to make the most of a bad situation and was known as a great friend, always ready with a smile on her face for others. Jeannette enjoyed living at the manor; she considered it her home and thought it her job to make everyone there feel welcome. She was a friend and friendly to all. Jeannette also took special joy in her granddaughters, Kaylee and Morgan. She considered them one of her biggest joys and the highlight of her life.
Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Michelle Sweet; two granddaughters, Kaylee and Morgan Sweet; her husband, Harold McNutt and family; John Patik Jr. and family; Steve Patik and family; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and numerous life-long friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim; mother, Pauline; sister, Annette; and brother, Anthony.
Funeral services will be at the First United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Newcastle's Greenwood Cemetery. There will be fellowship time at the Weston County Senior Center after services. Worden Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial has been established in Jeannette's name for the Weston County Manor. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Jeannette Patik McNutt Memorial, care of First State Bank of Newcastle, P.O. Box 910, Newcastle, WY 82701, or Michelle Sweet.
