Mrs. Dexter died Monday, March 14th at Weston County Health Services Long Term Care facility.

Helen was born August 19, 1905 in Wood River, Nebraska the daughter of Taunton and Lillie M. (Donaldson) Swaim. The family moved to a homestead in Weston County, Wyoming in 1919, and while Helen has lived in several different places over the years, she has spent most of her days in Newcastle. Until 2010, Helen continued to live in her own home in Newcastle. She was quite a go-getter, and at the age of 98, she decided to hike Devil's Tower with her twin great grandsons and granddaughter. When she was 100 years old, she rode in a hot air balloon. On January 1, 1925 Helen married John Dexter. John died suddenly on December 22, 1947 while the couple was living in Independence, Missouri. For more than fifty years, this ambitious woman volunteered at the Second Time Around Store with the Newcastle Seventh-Day Adventist Dorcas Society. She retired from working there in 2002, but she served a great need for Newcastle throughout the course of her life.

Surviving her are a daughter Elsie (Betty) Prell of Powell, WY; five grandchildren, Glenda Moore of Spokane, WA, Joy Johnson of Rapid City, SD, Daniel Prell and Sandra Prell both of Powell, WY and John Prell of Indianapolis IN; also surviving are eight great grandchildren, Willie, Jenny, Jessie, Erin, Sherena, Mark, Scott and Crystal; along with nine great great grandchildren Shantiel, Marissa, Kayly, Devin, Glen, Shadow, Harmony, Dillinger and Forrest.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, three brothers, George, Ancel and Ralph; and two sisters, Alice and Hazel.
