Mrs. Glenda Mefford

Glenda Kay Rich Mefford passed away unexpectedly October 17, 2015 at the age of 64.

Glenda was born November 6, 1950 in Newcastle, WY to Elmer & Pauline Rich. She was the seventh of nine children.

She attended school in Newcastle graduating with the class of 1969. After graduation, Glenda worked in various jobs in Newcastle.

On June 29, 1972 Glenda married Joe Mefford and they made their home in Newcastle. Joe was a deputy sheriff and Glenda worked for Dixon Bros. In 1975, Glenda became a stay at home mom when they welcomed their first son Joseph Warren. In 1977, their second son Brian Douglas was born.

After Joe passed away in 1989 Glenda went back to work to support her family. In October of 1992 Glenda started working as bookkeeper for Weston County Senior Services. Shortly thereafter she became the Director where she remained until her passing.

In 1995, Glenda met her companion Steve Pollat, whom she loved very much.

Throughout her life Glenda was a very devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandma and friend to all who knew her.

Summer could always find Glenda and Joe at the baseball park. She was the biggest fan of all "her kids". She was proud to call many a young man that were friends with her sons, "her other sons" who she loved very much.

Glenda was also a Sunday School teacher and chaperone for church youth group activities. Glenda loved singing and sang with her sisters for years.

Throughout her career at Weston County Senior Services, Glenda was a strong advocate for the elderly. She held offices on numerous boards at the state level. Her passion for the seniors of Weston County helped the center to become what it is today.

Glenda is survived by her son Joey and son and daughter-in-law Brian and Kandice of Newcastle, WY; grandsons Keyan of Cheyenne, WY; Gage and Nash of Newcastle, WY; Steve Pollat of Newcastle, WY; brothers Gomer (Ann) of Douglas, WY; Gary; Terry (Barrett); Dick (Bonnie) all of Newcastle, WY; sisters Marilyn Wright; Carolyn (Jim) Shields of Newcastle, WY; Brenda (Al) Costello of Porterville, CA; sister-in-law Martha of Newcastle, WY; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and one aunt Ruby Rich of Newcastle, WY. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe, father Elmer Rich, mother Pauline Rich, brother Ron Rich, aunts, uncles, cousins and a nephew.

Services will be held Thursday, October 22nd at 2pm at Weston County Senior Services with Rev. Norm Brotzman officiating. A reception will follow.

A memorial has been established for her grandsons' education.

Glenda had a contagious smile and never met a stranger. She loved her family. Her boys, daughter-in-law Kandice and three grandsons were the loves of her life.
