Fonda was born April 14, 1946, the daughter of Laurence Lyle and Elizabeth M. (nee Vincent) Fulton in Alliance, Nebraska. She grew up in Newcastle, WY where Lyle first worked construction and finally found his place in the oil field. While Elizabeth worked as a secretary Fonda attended elementary, middle and high schools here graduating in 1964. Besides Home Ec she was in the band as a drummer.
Upon graduation she attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri. Later laying out for a time to work in the national bank. After earning her B.A. in 1970, she married Pete Vorpahl who had just earned a veterinary degree from Colorado State University. The couple moved to Montrose, Colorado where Fonda worked at Happiness School which helped children with learning disabilities to be productive members of their communities. Pete worked at the Montrose Veterinary Clinic until they both decided to move to Newcastle to start what would become the Salt Creek Veterinary Clinic which Fonda managed for 43 years.
Fonda accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour as a young teen and lived a faithful life as a daughter, sister, wife, and mother, business woman, and friend. She died of natural causes in her home, Friday April 4th surrounded by family, which was her last wish. She was always active in her church, teaching Sunday school until ill health prevented her doing so. She was a member of Gateway Fellowship EFCA. Memorials may be made to the American Bible Society or the charity of your choice.
Fonda is survived by her husband Pete, sons Konrad and Dirck (Rapid City, SD and Lake Havasu, AZ respectively), brother Tom Fulton and wife Jan of Rock Springs, WY; Aunt Josephine Fulton of Upton, WY, and many cousins.
Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 9th at the Weston County Senior Services with Pastor Jonathan Anderson officiating.
Fonda's cremains will rest in the family ranch in Robbers' Roost
