Faye Purcelli, 94, died Sunday, October 9th at Sturgis Regional Senior Care in Sturgis, SD.
She was born October 18, 1916 at Winfred, South Dakota the daughter of William and Thelma (nee Price) Evans. Faye attended country school near her home for eight years, graduating from Winfred High School. On December 15, 1935, she married Victor Purcelli at Madison, South Dakota. After their wedding they danced to Lawrence Welk's Orchestra at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD. The couple made their home on the Purcelli ranch North of Newcastle on Northwest Table until 1944 when they moved to the Getchell Place. Faye enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, cooking, baking, handicraft work and listening to music. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newcastle.
Survivors include one son Neal (Marylee) Purcelli of Newcastle; two daughters, Jean Purcelli of San Francisco, CA and Ellen (Dale) Brooks of Sturgis, SD; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband, parents, brother Robert Evans and an infant son.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 14th at 1:00 pm in First United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Holland officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
