Mrs. Emma Farnsworth

Emma Lucille "Toots" Farnsworth 79, of Newcastle Wyoming, died Friday, Sept. 23,2011 at the Weston County Manor, after an extended fight with Alzheimer's. She was born July 29, 1932 at the Farella homestead, north of Newcastle, in the house her father Batista had built out of stone. As a young girl she was nicknamed "Toots", and she carried that name throughout her life. She completed her elementary education in the one room "Farella" schoolhouse, before moving to town and finishing at Newcastle High. On December 23, 1949 she married Gerald Gene" Buz" Farnsworth. During the next 57 years they raised four children: Michael E. Farnsworth (Joan), Patricia L. Farnsworth Allen (Bruce), Geraldine Farnsworth Reynolds (Randy), and Thomas E.Farnsworth (Jamie). She was an active member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, her home was always full of family and friends, and she loved to plant her flowers in the spring. As much as she loved her husband and children, it was her 14 grandchildren who stole her heart. Sometimes stern but always loving, the grandkids flocked to her like moths to a flame. They, in time, brought 10 great-grandchildren to her home on Wood Street and she cherished them all. She was preceded in death by her husband Buz Farnsworth, two children, Pamela and David (died at birth), one grandson William Jackson Allen, two brothers, Leno and Tony Farella, four sisters, Marie Macintosh, Annette Newlin, Teresa Harper, and JoAn Miller.
Father Phil Wagner will hold a Rosary at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, Sept. 29, at Corpus Christi Church. Mass will be held at the church at 10:00 A.M. Friday, Sept.30., followed by graveside services at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Weston County Manor. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Michael, Preston, Paul, Anthony and Conrad Farnsworth and Mark, Brent, Jarom, and Cory Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers include her granddaughters, Amy Allen Taylor, Theresa Reynolds Ashcroft, Morgan Farnsworth Torres, and Katie Farnsworth.
